A website I designed featuring a beautiful home for sale here in the Kootenays. It is built using rammed earth construction and has an off-grid solar power system.

The website has many image galleries to view the different design features of the home. There is also a rotating image banner at the top showing various angles of the exterior of the home and a google map showing it’s location, just south of Nelson, BC.

This home has the coolest fireplace I’ve ever seen, along with many other interesting design features. See the rest of this amazing house.. And it can be all yours for only 1.7 million Canadian dollars.

authorcloud is an online publishing company focusing on ‘outsider’ alternative fiction. The logo portrays a modern and bold company.

New website for the Kootenay Lake Guest House

I redesigned the website for the Kootenay Lake Guest House (formerly the Kaslo Hostel). I converted the website to a Content Management System which makes it easier for them to update their website themselves. I also added some new features such as Google Maps integration and some photo slideshows of the guest house.

I used the wooden siding of the guest house and a hand painted script to convey the rustic friendliness of the accommodations.

I took part in a two-day animation workshop at the Valhalla Film School.

I just took part in a two-day animation/digital storytelling workshop at the Valhalla Film School.

Two dynamic and talented filmmakers, Catrina Longmuir and Martin Rose led us in two days of intense, creative animation and digital storytelling. The goal of the workshop was to create a short film based on the history or experience of the Japanese Canadian internment in New Denver.

I created a short stop-motion animation piece using cut out paper. It was an intense workshop – trying to make an animated film in less than two days.

It got me thinking about how motion, time & sound relate to graphic design.

New member of the board of directors

Last night I was elected to be on the board of the Langham Cultural Society. The Langham houses Kaslo’s art gallery, theatre, museum, and many artist studio spaces.

It is a big, old, beautiful building that was first built as a hotel in 1896. Since then it has had many incarnations: a bottling plant; a wooden boat factory and a bank. During the Second World War the Langham was used as an internment centre for Canadians of Japanese descent. Over the years the building fell into disrepair, but was restored in the 1970′s and has become the hub of Kaslo’s arts scene. I look forward to participating in it’s future.

new catalog & website for Liduccia Jewelry

Liduccia Jewelry designs jewelry with the healing properties of the stones in mind. I worked closely with the owner, Lidia Iacobucci, to incorporate her ideas into the final designs.

The website was created as a Content Management System, which allows the owner to make changes themselves. There is a blog built in to the website and it is linked to Liduccia’s Facebook page.

I also published the catalog online as a digital booklet that can be flipped through. This way customers can view the catalog online instead of having to download the whole pdf.

I previously designed Liduccia’s logo, business cards, brochure and printed catalog.

32 page workshop program & new website

I was hired to design the 2009 Johnsons Landing Retreat Centre program, a 32 page magazine, detailing the workshops they offer throughout the year.

I also converted their previous website to a Content Management System (CMS) to help organize all of the workshops and make it easier to update, edit, and monitor the usage of the site. Another advantage of a CMS is that I can set it up so the client can log-in to update or add new content to the website themselves.

This website allows guest to register for workshops online.
